The annual Lesbian Spring Gathering (LFT) is celebrating its 30^th birthday in 2004. Once again thousands of Lesbians are expected. The gathering will be held in Giessen and is being organized cooperatively with Lesbians from Marburg and Alsfeld, in the heart of the state of Hessen.

The preparations are underway AND you can still contribute your ideas, energy, knowledge and help out. Every Lesbian who can actively support would be appreciated. No  matter how great or small your support is, we need every contribution: time, know-how and money (which can be written off on your taxes as a donation to a non-profit organization).

This is the first time that three cities -or is Alsfeld only a village?- have organized LFT and therefore rural Lesbians are actively organizing. Rural Lesbians will also be a focus, but have no fear: Giessen has a good size Lesbian community and it’s fairly safe to walk the streets there.

The encounter between urban and rural Lesbians is also symbolic for our goal of creating an atmosphere in which Lesbians of diverse backgrounds can encounter each other.

Even though  the Marbug-Giessen-Alsfeld triangle is in the middle of Hessen, which is in the middle of Europe, it is also on the edge of the mainstream as all rural areas tend to be.

This feeling of being in the center of things AND being an outsider on the edge of things can be a spiritual challenge to find your own center, which is essential for finding your path from isolation and/or coupledom  into the magic of community in which diversity is valued.

Politically we want to focus on „outsider“ topics, topics on the edge of the Lesbian mainstream with the hope that there is room for acceptance in our collective center for these issues.
